The Street, directed by photographer and documentary maker Zed Nelson, was shortlisted for the 2020 Griersons, also having received a nomination at the British Independent Film Awards, screened at the London Film Festival prior to a successful lengthy theatrical release, and was selected as one of The Economist’s ten best films of 2019. Shot over more than four years it follows the debilitating effects of gentrification in one Hackney street.
I enjoy editing across genres in both documentary and drama, whether on gritty shows like Gangs of London with director Marcela Said, or comedy with Monty Python’s Terry Jones on Absolutely Anything (Simon Pegg and Kate Beckinsale), to independent feature crime drama with Paul Schrader (American Gigolo, Mishima & writer of Taxi Driver & Raging Bull), to epic documentary series like One Strange Rock, or the pilot for the 2014 TV BAFTA feature winner Long Lost Family, to individual one offs like Reef Builders with director Stephen Shearman. I acted as editing consultant on Theeb which was Oscar nominated and a BAFTA winner for best Foreign Language Film.
I started as an Assistant Editor with directors as diverse as Nic Roeg, Peter Greenaway & Ridley Scott and found my feet with Errol Morris as an Associate Editor on A Brief History of Time which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. I went on to cut Kate Bush's directing debut The Line, The Cross & The Curve - nominated for a Grammy for Best Music Video. I’ve also worked as a Sound Editor with Mike Leigh and Hugh Hudson and garnered a Golden Reel nomination for Seven Years In Tibet starring Brad Pitt.
